Grade Book (WebCMS) |
 |
|
The Web Course Management System (WebCMS) is an automated grade book
that effortlessly records students’ homework from the Hawkes
Learning Systems (HLS) courseware. Tests that you create and
give using WebTest are also recorded into WebCMS. WebCMS allows
you to monitor students’ progress in the HLS courseware.
WebCMS is an automated grade book which is set up and maintained
on our servers, making it accessible to you and your students
from any computer with an internet connection. Upon completing
an assignment, students receive a certification code that they
register on their “progress report” website for instant
entry in your grade book. WebCMS can be used as your primary course
grade book, accepting scores from tests, quizzes and other assignments,
along with tests and quizzes created using our web-based testing
system, WebTest. Valuable time-on-task information and class
summary reports that help you keep track of your students’ performance
are also provided in WebCMS. WebCMS gives you the control to
customize all of your courses, whether they are lecture-driven,
distance-learning or self paced. |
|
| There are only two things you need to do to reap the benefits of
WebCMS! With WebCMS you can set due dates, assess late penalties
and motivate your students by assigning credit to whichever HLS homework “certifications” you
choose. |
| 1. Assign homework “certifications” from HLS. At
the beginning of, or throughout the term, establish due dates
for homework that you would like to assign from HLS. Then, as
your students certify (complete their homework) in the assigned
HLS modules, have them register their certification code on their “progress
report” website for credit. |

2. Motivate your students to complete their HLS homework and
reward them appropriately. We recommend allotting a significant
part of the students’ total grade to the HLS homework that
you assign. This not only provides motivation and incentive for
students to complete their homework assignments, but also gives
them a nice reward. Students realize that they can improve their
grade significantly by doing their homework and that it will
be difficult to pass the course without doing so. |
