What is an HLS Course ID? |
top |
| |
The HLS Course ID is defined by Hawkes Learning Systems to
uniquely identify your instructor's online grade book. The HLS
Course ID is NOT your access code, license number, or section
number. Please review the course materials provided by your
instructor at the beginning of class to obtain your school's
Course ID. If you are unable to contact your instructor we can
provide it to you if you e-mail or call us.
Lookup the HLS Course ID for your school |
|
| 2. |
What is a License Number? |
top |
| |
The license number is a 15-digit number that is unique to
your copy of the courseware. If you purchased the courseware
from the bookstore, the license number will be found on the
yellow sticker attached to the CD sleeve.
Register
the license number on our website to generate an access
code. Your access code is used to sign into the Hawkes courseware
and online Progress Report.
If you don't have a license number, or your license number has already been registered to somebody else, then you must purchase your own license
number and access code by purchasing
your Access Code online. |
|
| 3. |
What is an Access Code? |
top |
| |
An Access Code is a unique 30-character code that uniquely
identifies you to your instructor and to the courseware. Your
access code is needed every time you start the Hawkes courseware,
so keep it handy. Your Access Code will work with newer versions of our
courseware, so there is no need to purchase a new Access Code if you lose your access code or retake a class.
After Registering
your license number on our website your access
code will be displayed onscreen. Use the Print Version of that
page to obtain a hardcopy. If you supplied an email address,
an electronic copy of the access code will be emailed to you.
Open the Hawkes software and enter your access code. The OK button will become available only after all 30 characters have been typed.
Once you type in the access code you will be prompted to save it for future use. Save the “access.cod” file
to a memory stick if you are going to use the courseware in
the computer lab. Save the "access.cod" file to the My Documents folder or other convenient location if you are using the courseware on your
home computer. After saving the access.cod file, whenever you start the Hawkes software in the future, simply click the "Load from File" button, browse to the folder containing the access.cod file, and open it. You will be automatically logged in with your access code.
If you are retaking a class and simply forgot your access code, use the following form to retrieve your access code: Resend Your Access Code |

What is a Certification Code? |
top |
| |
After correctly answering the required number of questions in
Certify mode in a given lesson, you will be presented with a certification code.
This certification code is unique to you for that lesson. It
shows the instructor that you have successfully mastered this
topic.
Backup copies of all completed certificates are saved for later retrieval if needed. The default location for these certificates is My Documents\Hawkes Learning Systems\{product name}\Certificates |

“Unable to access the Hawkes Learning Systems website…” - Step 4 |

If you are unable to run the Hawkes software installation, or because Internet Explorer is not functional, your computer may be infected with viruses and/or spyware.
Check to see if your computer has an outdated or expired antivirus program. Since new viruses and spyware are introduced almost daily, an outdated or expired antivirus program is almost useless against new threats.
We strongly recommend having a valid, fully functioning antivirus/antispyware program installed on your computer. Once an antivirus solution is in place, perform a thorough scan of your computer and take the recommended actions to eliminate any viruses or spyware.
Some popular antivirus solutions include: Vipre,
AVG,
Norton, and
McAfee
