G. Scott Virkler
Chief Executive Officer

Scott Virkler is a seasoned C-Level executive with over 20 years of experience in Education Technology. Scott has worked in a variety of technology, operations and business development roles for some of the largest companies in this space, including McGraw-Hill and Reed Elsevier, as well as some of the smaller ones; Illuminate Education and Petroskills. In addition, he has been in a variety of positions for a successful start- up, GlobalSpec as well as General Electric. Scott is also a retired Lt Col from the U. S. Air Force. He has degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Gannon University. Scott is married to his wife Denise of 35+ years and they have two children.

Kuljit is a seasoned EdTech executive with over 35 years of experience in senior technical and leadership roles. Driven by a passion for leveraging technology to enhance learning and teaching, he brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing educational institutions. Prior to his current role, Kuljit held leadership positions at prominent EdTech companies such as McGraw-Hill and Ellucian. His firsthand experience in higher education, having worked at Babson College and Harvard Business School, provides him with a unique perspective on the needs and aspirations of faculty, staff, and students. Committed to empowering educators and administrators to achieve their goals, Kuljit creates innovative solutions and products that make a positive impact on student outcomes. With an undergraduate degree in Computing Science from Staffordshire University in the UK and an MBA from Babson College, Kuljit brings strong technical and business acumen to his work. Kuljit and his wife reside in Boston, Massachusetts, and have a 25-year-old daughter.

Amy Reed-Flanagan

Vice President of Marketing and Customer Success

Amy Reed has more than 25 years of experience working in educational technology. She began as a marketing assistant, working full-time while earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Clarke University. Amy has a history of building and leading great teams and a track record of success in a variety of roles from sales to product and portfolio management and marketing. She believes everyone should have access to higher education if they want it and is happy to put her passion and talents to work each day bringing affordable and effective materials to students that help make their goals of a college degree more accessible. Amy lives in Iowa with her husband and two children, where she is an avid sports mom in her spare time.

Marcel Prevuznak

Marcel Prevuznak
Vice President of Research and Development

Marcel joined Hawkes Learning in 1999 and is the longest tenured employee, totaling 25 years with the Company. He has served in a number of positions in product development where he played a critical role in creating Hawkes’ adaptive learning technology and proprietary courseware platform, enabling the company to become the market leading innovator in the space.

Marcel started with Hawkes as a Product Developer in 1999, served as the Director of Product Development for the two years following and was promoted to Vice President of Research & Development in 2001. Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics at a local college. He has also twice served as a peer reviewer for the United States Department of Energy’s Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship program. Marcel has also been a speaker at the AMS/MAA Joint Mathematics Meetings.

Marcel holds a BS degree in Mathematics, BA degree in Physics, and an MS degree in Mathematics from the College of Charleston. He is also a Certified Scrum Master through the Scrum Alliance and holds a black belt in Wado-Ryu karate.

Christin Jamery

Vice President of Sales

Christin Jamery received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and went on to pursue Elementary and Special Education certification from La Roche College and her MA in Educational Leadership from California University of PA. She spent the first eight years of her career as a kindergarten and first grade inclusive education teacher and one year as an interim assistant principal before taking a position with McGraw Hill Higher Education where she spent the next eight years of her career. Christin joined the Hawkes Learning team in 2023 when she identified Hawkes as a service minded company that provides students with pedagogically strong software and top tier support for both educators and students. Christin resides in Pittsburgh, PA with her fiancé, Nick, their dog, Archie and cats, Hermie and Zeke. Christin serves on the board for Autism Opportunities Network and is passionate about supporting educators and students in the shared pursuit of improving student success in higher education.

Rachel Christensen

Director of Human Resources

Rachel became an integral part of Hawkes in April 2017 when she assumed the role of Benefits Coordinator. Over the years, her contributions have expanded across various facets of the company, demonstrating her versatility and commitment. In addition to her initial responsibilities with benefits, Rachel has taken on key roles in recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, building maintenance, and management coaching and development. Noteworthy among her achievements is the successful implementation of a new HRIS platform during her tenure, showcasing her proactive approach to enhancing operational efficiency. Rachel's strategic mindset also played a pivotal role in evaluating and refining the benefits strategy, with a primary focus on fostering employee retention. Recognizing her skills and dedication, Rachel earned a promotion to the position of Director of HR in 2019. In this elevated role, she continues to make significant contributions to the organization's success. Her responsibilities now include overseeing employee engagement initiatives, such as the Hawkes Olympics, and volunteer opportunities, conducting strategic policy reviews, leading recruiting efforts, and ensuring a seamless onboarding process for all new hires. Rachel's academic background adds a unique dimension to her professional profile, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Robert Morris University. This blend of analytical thinking and HR expertise positions her as a valuable asset to Hawkes, driving the company's human resources strategies and practices to new heights.
